ROOTED IN SUSTAINABILITY

"Rooted in Sustainability" is a photographic project that explores the ethos of conscious living through the lens of Pura Vida Stores, a small eco-friendly and plastic-free shop in Barnstaple, North Devon. Pura Vida provides earth-conscious alternatives for everyday needs, emphasising waste reduction and ethical sourcing. Their commitment to sustainability is also reflected in their selection of cruelty and chemical-free household and beauty products, with a strong focus on locally sourced items wherever possible.
 
One of their key suppliers, Amary Farm, located just a short distance away in Hele, Ilfracombe, embodies the same ethical and sustainable values. This off-grid, family-run farm is dedicated to self-sufficiency and chemical-free practices, working harmoniously with the land near the ocean to ensure a sustainable future.
 
This project visually narrates the collaborative efforts of these two small businesses, bound by shared values of sustainability and ethical responsibility. Through their support of one another, they encourage customers to make informed, thoughtful decisions in their daily shopping habits.
By capturing the essence of these businesses and the care they put into their work, I hope this project will inspire viewers to reconsider where their food and household products come from and the impact of the chemicals they contain. My goal is to encourage a more conscious, intentional approach to consumption—one that nurtures both the planet and our well-being.
